Register your Stallion with ASAV

ATTENTION SHAGYA OWNERS - please note

2011 registration rule in place, DNA now required for all Arabian mares bred to Shagya stallions.    The ASAV is an Inspection Free Association.   

Inspections are not required for breeding  and registrations.

Registration Form: Shagya-Araber (ASAV-SH)
a) Both parents Shagya
b) One parent Shagya and the other parent Purebred Arabian (ox).
The off-spring must be fulfilling the 7/16 rule, which means that at least 7 out of 16 ancestors in the 4th generation must be Shagyas.
Inspections scores/results and performance test results will be recorded as part of the horses registry information in the ASAV
registry/studbook.

Registration Form: Appendix-Shagya (ASAV-SA)
Appendix of the main Shagya-Araber stallion or studbook.
One parent Shagya and the other parent Purebred Arabian (ox), but the offspring does not fulfill the 7/16 rule, which means that less
than 7 out of 16 ancestors in the 4th generation are Shagyas.

Registration Form: Anglo-Shagya (ASAV-AN)
The Anglo-Shagya shall record the lineage of Shagya crosses to Thoroughbred, Anglo-Arabian, and Anglo-Shagyas.
There must be 12.5 % but no more than 75% purebred Shagya bloodlines in the 4th generation (this means: at least 2 but not more
than 12 purebred Shagyas in the 4th generation), and 25% but no more than 75% Thoroughbred bloodlines in the 4th generation.
This means: at least 2 but not more than 12 Thoroughbreds in the 4th generation.

Registration Form: Shagya-Sportlo (ASAV-SP)
The Shagya-Sportlo shall record the lineage of Shagya outcrosses other than to Arabians. The Shagya Sportlo must
have at least 12.5% purebred Shagya bloodlines in the 4th generation.
This means: 2 out of the 16 ancestors in the 4th generation must be purebred Shagyas.

DNA Testing Requirements:
Book I Shagya-Arabian Purebred - DNA testing required for all horses
Book II Appendix Shagya -  DNA testing required only for breeding horses and purebred arabian mares.
Book 3 =   Shagya-Sportlo - Not required if listed on Stallion report
Book 4 = Anglo- Shagya -  DNA Not required. Documaented Thoroughbred Jockey papers and pedigree required.


Instructions for DNA-Testing ~cost is $35 per sample, sent to ASAV Registrar mailing adress~

Notes:
Anglo-Shagyas and Sportlo-Shagyas and off-spring resulting from Anglo-Shagyas or Sportlo-Shagyas cannot be introduced into the Purebred or Appendix-Shagya studbooks. The offspring resulting from these crosses will be registered in the ASAV Books established especially for them.
